We have some exciting news to share with you! The number of Canadians that make cheese at home is on the rise, but in most cases there is no way to receive recognition or feedback for their hard work and passion. There may be an opportunity for amateur cheese makers to come together for a cheese judging of their creations.
Georgs Kolesnikovs, the organizer of The Great Canadian Cheese festival is testing the waters to see if there is enough interest in this to hold a Home Cheese Making Competition during the Great Canadian Cheese Festival held in Picton, June 6 and 7, 2015.

Contact 7 of your friends who want to have a fun day learning about cheese making and you can save the cost of your registration. Eight can attend as a group for the cost of 7. It’s a great way to celebrate any special occasion, birthday or anniversary. Book this soon while space is available. We need to have at least 4 participants to be able to offer the workshop.
For your convenience we have added PayPal and a registration form that you can download. If using PayPal please indicate the date of the workshop you wish to attend under “Instructions from Buyer”.
These workshops are designed to show the basic principles of cheese making. Participants will learn how to make a Camembert style cheese and a Roquefort style cheese using your own kitchen facilities and equipment. You will participate in the production of these cheeses and take home a sample of each to finish and age at your own home. Included in the workshop is a folder with instructional information, equipment list, cheese journal and recipes. Also available is a starter kit including ripening bin, cheese mat, cheese forms, rennet, starters, curd cutting spatula and milk ladle.
A gourmet lunch including a tasting of artisan cheese is provided. Limited to eight participants.
Workshops must be paid in full when registering in order to reserve your place. Reservations will be rescheduled only if space is available. An additional $25.00 processing fee will apply.
